No Strings Attached

Funny, how, in the course of making a painting, things happen that you never intended. And sometimes I don’t even notice until I see the photograph in thumbnail size. It’s usually something to do with a color that fades out or a line that’s tangent to another and makes a weird shape. In this painting it’s more to do with the way these characters line up and maybe it’s the look on the little guy’s face. But, to me, they look like a ventriloquist and his dummy. Probably the only time I’ll get to paint someone and call them a dummy. And get away with it…

They do look like a 'talent show' team. I'll bet he's saying, 'My name's Gilly Grown and I'm a gutcher's goy'. Family joke. My dad used to sit us on his knee and pretend to be a ventriloquist, but he couldn't say the Bs.

Too funny! I love your story! Now I may have to do another 'dummy" and name him Gilly Grown!
