Earth Mama

6x8" oil on canvas, SOLD

This is one of those paintings that just refused to be named. I struggled far too long to come up with the right name. Shouldn't be that hard...I mean, I keep a notebook of quirky words, funny phrases and overheard snippets of conversations. All at my fingertips when it comes time to "Name-That-Painting". And yet, some refuse a title without a bit of an arm-wrestle. So in the midst of my teeth-gnashing and head-banging, in walks the teenage daughter and in a complete and utter incognizant moment she mutters, "Oh. Earth mama." And so it goes....

"Head In The Clouds"

6"x 8" oil on canvas, SOLD

Sometimes I feel like I spend more time thinking of what to write about a painting than I do actually painting it. I hope this one speaks for itself...I really need to get outside and enjoy this gorgeous spring day in San Diego.

"Beach Baby #2"

8"x 6", oil on canvas, SOLD

This is another in the series of kids on the beach. Love the goggles! Nothing like a blue sky, miles of beach and a fabulous new bikini!

"Beach Baby"

5"x 5", oil on canvas, SOLD

This is the first in a series of beach paintings. Of course, they won't be your usual lovely beachscapes from me. Instead, I've been thinking about how funny little kids look in swim suits; the baggy butts, droopy straps and goggles that give them an eerie resemblance to bugs. So in honor of Spring Break, here in beautiful San Diego, I'm going to have a little fun at the expense of children's swimsuit designers and the little sprouts who would rather go to the beach au naturel.

"Golden Boots"

6"x 8", oil on canvas, $100 at my EBAY STORE

Another of my funny little men. I love to dress them in oddball hats and shoes and drop them into curious settings. Then you get to make up your own story. And it's always fun to paint those fluffy clouds!

"Little White Lies"

24"x 20", oil on canvas

This is another of the larger format paintings for my show. Not really a daily painting, more like a weekly painting. Still, it has many of the same themes as the dailys...a figure in the foreground, hills, leaning trees and, of course, Nellie, the studio dog. Maybe if it doesn't sell in the show I'll put it in my eBay Store next month.

"Yard Bird"

8"x 6" oil on canvas, SOLD

For a while, my daughter was on a first name basis with the local Bird Rescue. We made many trips with sick and broken birds in shoe boxes hoping to save their little bird lives. So this painting is dedicated to Cammy, "Friend To All Birds".
