Out of the Vault: Diamond Boys

20x16" oil on canvas

Oy vey! I ventured out today into the world of cheesy Christmas presents, blaring Christmas music and cranky consumers trying to be cheerful in spite of it all. Complete mind-numbing overload. Next year, I'm thinkin' Hanukkah is the way to go. Spread it out a little...seems like a good idea to me.

I'm pulling some festive favorites out of the vault this week; can't seem to get to my daily paintings between the designated Santa duties and preparing for my January show. Note to self: never, never plan an exhibition that hangs a week after Christmas. Geez! Going sideways tonight...

Royal Poo-Bah

8x6" oil on canvas, PURCHASE INFORMATION

I think this is the British cousin of Bernie (from my Bernie series). He looks like a stuffy member of the Royal Family---Charles, maybe? My apologies to the Brits in my family…(you know who you are).

Speaking of our friends across the pond…I was recently invited by a very nice man, Antony, in the UK to submit photos of my studio to his website: www.artistarea.co.uk. It’s a site “to show where real artists and designers work”. Hmmm. I wonder what makes an artist real? Anyone want to guess? Anyway, it’s a cool idea and you can get a look other studios to see that yours isn’t really all that messy, afterall.

Crown Prince Faint-Heart

10x8", oil on canvas, SOLD

As promised, this is the painting that won the Juror's Choice in the San Diego Art Institute's 1 Foot Show. The show is actually up now and the artists' reception will be on February 29, 6-8pm. Come by if you can, all paintings are better in person. And mine usually have secret messages in the background that you can really only see up close and in person. Food, wine, fabulous art and secret messages...what more could you want?
