Bernie's Illusions Of Grandeur #3
20x16" oil on canvas, SOLD
Well, I loved Bernie so much that I just had to do another one. This painting is a large format (20x16") and therefore, I had the opportunity for more details and more scribbles in the background. Wondering what I mean by scribbles? Here's a close up of Bernie's background.
I mix wax with the oil paint and apply it with a palette knife, almost like frosting a cake. Then I use a pencil and scratch back into the paint/wax. I write things in secret code and I draw symbols and weird little things. Lots of birds and tic tac toe games (I never win). Sometimes I write the lyrics to the music I'm listening to and sometimes I write notes to the new owner of the painting. When it's all done, it makes a very unusual texture and another layer of visual interest for up-close viewing. If you're interested in this piece, shoot me an email.

Hey Jacqui Faye, thanks so much. Your paintings are pretty unique as well...love the red shoes! I always look forward to the next installment.
I LOVE that you did a detail shot of this one- that is a fascinating, wonderful background! hehe- I didn't think I could like your paintings even more, but now I do :)
Well, Kellie, now I've let you in on one of my trade secrets. It's all so technical: I draw in the paint with a pencil. Kids, don't try this at home!:>)
