Martin Was An Elegant Pooch

8x6" oil on canvas, SOLD

This is a true story: Way back, in another life, I lived next door to a really ancient woman and her equally ancient dog. Her name was Holly. The dog was Martin. Holly was a bit daffy but ever so engaging and endearing. She was convinced that Martin, the dog, was the reincarnation of her late husband, Martin. In fact, out of reverence for Martin, the husband, she set a place at her dinner table every evening and Martin, the dog, joined her for supper. Holly liked to say Martin was well-mannered and quite elegant. For a pooch. Seriously? You can't' make this stuff up.

I know...but your husband's name isn't Martin! And I really don't see you dining with a dog...
