Alien Baby

6x6" oil on canvas, SOLD

We've all been there, right? That special moment when you feel certain your child is from another planet. There's just no other way to explain their behavior.  And there are no Operating Instructions (that I know of) written in Alien-speak. What to do? Wait it out. Whatever form the alien insanity takes today--it will certainly mutate tomorrow. And if you're an artist or a writer or... a space explorer--it's just more grist for the mill.

Just Between You And Me

24x36" oil on canvas, SOLD

I am so happy that this painting sold at the UnFramed Show on Saturday!

It's always great, of course, to sell your art but it's just that much better when it goes to someone who honestly LOVES your artwork. The folks that bought this piece, Amanda and Jason, are collectors and they definitely have a fine appreciation of art that is just a bit offbeat. Just my kind of people! It's so gratifying when the people that understand my art actually seek me out at venues like the UnFramed Show or the C-Note Sale at the San Diego Art Institute (next weekend).

Thank you to everyone who "adopted" a new painting at the show; seventeen paintings found new homes. And now I've got to get to work...lots of new and weird ideas rolling around in my head!

"Beach Baby #2"

8"x 6", oil on canvas, SOLD

This is another in the series of kids on the beach. Love the goggles! Nothing like a blue sky, miles of beach and a fabulous new bikini!

"Beach Baby"

5"x 5", oil on canvas, SOLD

This is the first in a series of beach paintings. Of course, they won't be your usual lovely beachscapes from me. Instead, I've been thinking about how funny little kids look in swim suits; the baggy butts, droopy straps and goggles that give them an eerie resemblance to bugs. So in honor of Spring Break, here in beautiful San Diego, I'm going to have a little fun at the expense of children's swimsuit designers and the little sprouts who would rather go to the beach au naturel.

"Progeny"

24"x 20"

This week I am busy getting ready for a show so there won't be as many daily paintings but I will post some of my larger pieces that are going to be hung in the show. I am still painting every day (and every night) and hopefully I'll be able to paint a couple of small canvases later in the week. Thanks for checking in.
