Color Blind And Featherbrained

8x6" oil on canvas, SOLD

Blinded by color is more like it, these days. I am a test subject in UCSD's Department of Psychology Synesthesia Studies. Yep, I'm a bona fide synesthete (and proud of it). So I've been going to the campus for experiments and tests--I think they are going to try to re-program my color/number connections while I am hypnotized. I have color-graphemic synesthesia; I perceive certain numbers as colors. Seriously--you can't make this stuff up!

Not sure what synesthesia is? There's a good lay person explanation on Wikipedia. I'm guessing that some of my artist friends out there are also synesthetes--true? Let me know. Definitely going on my resumé!

Yup, I have always seen "colored numbers"! Thought it was just me until I read your bio! Good to know there is a family of us out here!
Spread the word...numbers aren't just for mathematicians anymore!

Wow, I haven't heard of this til now. Fascinating and a would be a real contradiction for me as I am so number challenged and consider them a left brain function.

Oh to pop inside your head and see what you see. :)

Seriously, I am number or rather, math challenged. But I have always relied on the number/color thing to memorize phone numbers, social security numbers, etc...never really helped with algebra though--darn!
