2013 Handmade Angel Ornament

Limited Edition Angel Ornament | 6.5x5.5"

How many angel ornaments should my studio elves send to you?

For the past five years now, I have created my own version of Christmas Angel Ornaments. This year I have made a limited edition of handmade angels (Meaning not very many. Really. It's a labor of love!) to hang on your tree or give as gifts. These handmade ornaments are mixed media on wood with wings and halos of copper wire and each angel is holding a snowflake for a touch of holiday whimsy. The red and gold polka dot back is signed by yours truly.

  Gift Bag
And just to make your life a little easier, each Angel Ornament comes nestled in red crinkle paper in a shiny silver gift bag. There is even a gift tag attached so all you have to do is write in the name of the lucky recipient!

Useless Moon

18x 24", oil on canvas, prints available

There are some paintings that are a real hot commodity--they sell practically the minute I put my brush down. And then for months after, I get more inquiries about that particular painting. I've never been able to figure out what the magic potion is; there are just some paintings that go out into the universe and strike a chord with a whole bunch of people. And this painting, Useless Moon, is one of those.

So I have partnered up with Imagekind to offer some of my most popular paintings as prints: big prints and little prints, prints on canvas and framed prints--all at very reasonable (ie: gift-giving) prices. I have been very impressed with the quality of the prints I have ordered from Imagekind and I think you will too. From now until Christmas, I will be featuring one hot commodity painting every week-now available as a print. If you'd like to see all that are available hop on over to my Imagekind Gallery.

2009 Limited Edition Angel Ornament

I only have a few of this year's ornament left! This quirky little angel has been pretty popular among those with a penchant for the "out-of-the-ordinary" Christmas tree ornament. It comes with the gift bag, ribbon and gift tag as shown in the photo. If you've been thinking about ordering one of these hand-painted ornaments now is the time. I will take orders through Saturday, Dec 19 or until I run out of angels. Ho, Ho, Ho!

Divine Messenger Of...What Recovery?

4x4" mixed media

Economists are saying that the recession is over. 84% of Americans polled disagree. So who are you going to believe? Waiting for that Divine Messenger of Nothin' But Good News....

This is #5 in the Recession Angel series. One more to go and then I'm focusing on my upcoming show at the Lyceum Theater in January. More to come...

And don't forget to take a peek at my 2009 Limited Edition Angel Ornaments. They are flying out the door and I only have a few left. Let me know soon if you want one in time for Christmas!

This angel thing could go on for a while. I've got a long list of Recession issues that really need a little divine intervention. Send me yours and, who knows, it might end up with a funny face and a halo!

Recession Angel #3, Dark Angel Of Popped Bubbles

4x4" mixed media, SOLD

The third in my series of Recession Angels was especially tricky to name; he looks sweet yet devilish at the same time. Kind of like some of those financial wizards we trusted with our retirement accounts, huh? As with all the Recession Angels in the series, they are $100 bucks and the shipping is on me.

And if you're in the gift-giving frame of mind, check out my 2009 Limited Edition Angel Ornament. I'm only painting 50 this year and they are already flying out the door! Let me know soon if you want to place your order.

Guardian Angel Of The Heartless

8x6" oil on canvas, SOLD

This is my last Recession Angel for the week. Now I'm on to help the elves with the Angel Ornaments. Keep an eye out in the next couple of days for my new 2009 Ornament!

Recession Angel #2, Cherub Of Chapter 11

4x4" mixed media

Doesn't he look just miserable? Well, this is the second in my series of Recession Angels and I really don't think they should look anything other than miserable. Like yesterday's painting this one also has old newspaper collaged into the background. It gives this little angel a bit of a pinched look I think. So, in reverence of the Great Economic Pickle we find ourselves in, all the Recession Angels are $100 bucks and shipping is free. Such a deal!

Archangel Of The Silver Bullet, Recession Angel #1

4x4" mixed media, SOLD

OK, I am starting on this year's angel series for the Holidays. And my guess is that not many folks are feeling all that festive this year with the constant brain upload of bad news about the economy, the recession, unemployment, blah, blah, blah...Are we sick of this...or what?

So in an effort to be mindful of the the wallet, irreverent about the issues and still make art for the people out there that "get" me, I'm introducing the Recession Angels. I have been collecting "recession bits" from the news that has now become a part of our language (I mean really, did you ever even say the words underwater mortgage before last year?). And I'm turning these bits into angels. Small angel paintings that have little pieces of old newspaper (1910 on this one) collaged into the background or the wings. Each canvas is 1 1/2" deep and the sides are painted and collaged. The Recession Angels sell for $100 bucks and I'll pick up the shipping.

My way of thumbing my nose at too much bad news and starting the holidays off with a little twinkle in my eye!

Out Of The Vault: Trixie Shines Her Little Light

8x6" oil on canvas, SOLD

OK, now that Halloween is just a memory, it's time to think about Christmas, right? Well, even though Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday I am starting to plan my holiday angel paintings. This year I think I'll do a few Angels of Recession pieces (they will be very small and a little tarnished).

And I'm already working on the 2009 limited edition angel ornament. I've even had some pre-sale orders. Last year's ornament was very popular and it's a tradition I want to keep up but this year's edition will be a bit more "limited". The elves are just too busy helping me get ready for my next solo show in January. And, let's be honest, stressed out elves are just so unpleasant to deal with during the holidays. So to get us all in the mood, say hello to Trixie, one of my favorite angels from last year.

Guardian Angel Of Wavering Sanity

10x8" oil on canvas, SOLD

Have I mentioned that I went to Catholic School? Most of my pre-college days were spent under the tutelage of the glorious Sisters of Charity. I have very fond memories of the etchings in my bible history textbook from those days. Scary, actually. Ask me someday about the poor folks that didn't make it to heaven. Enough to scare the hell out of a little kid. Anyway, rather than use my brain cells to memorize the history of the bible, I spent a lot of time thinking about the pictures (a visual learner). I was always stumped by the angel's halos. How did they stay on? With bobby pins? Velcro? What? I prayed for the answer. Years later, I had a fabulous professor of Art History that described this particular style of angelic headwear as "Pie-Pan Halos". I love that. Still not sure how they stay on but at least they have a really great name.

Christmas Angel Of Commerce

8x10" oil on canvas, SOLD

I'm just a tad bit overwhelmed with the whole Christmas thing this year. The past few years I have been finished with the shopping by Halloween. (I know, I know...a little over the top.) But this year I've been so busy with painting that December 1 rolled around and I realized that Santa was MIA. What followed was not a pretty sight...gnashing of teeth, biting of knuckles and plenty of whining. But in the end I decided to put on my big girl panties and shop! I learned that you can cram all your Christmas shopping into one five hour online extravaganza. Just grit your teeth and click. Now let's give thanks to the Saints Of Free Shipping.
